Meet Marie

Born on the island of Haiti, Marie arrived in the US in 1979, attended the Newberry Junior College of Fashion Design in Boston and later went on to study pattern-making at the Fashion Institute of Technology of New York.

Romain first opened the Marie’s By Design in 1988 in Stamford, Connecticut after working as a master tailor for JCPenny, Courage, Jeager and other retailers. In 1997, she relocated the business to the Buckhead community of Atlanta . For over 25 years, Marie has been providing custom tailored designs for Atlanta’s top clientele including news anchor Sophia Choi, voting rights activist Stacey Abrams and entrepreneur Demond Crump.
